Topic 2: Develop Goals and Objectives

 

Assignment Instructions

There are two parts to this assignment:

Part 1:

Step 1:
Review the online course material in this topic (see navigation bar on the right).

Estimated time = 60 minutes


Step 2:

Write or revise the "enduring understanding" for one lesson. Based on the enduring understanding write a draft of the goal for the lesson.

Estimated time = 30 minutes


Step 3:
Write a draft of the objectives.

Estimated time = 30 minutes


Step 4:
Compare your objectives to the Behavioral Objectives Rubric and Behavioral Objectives Checklist.

Estimated time = 30 minutes


Step 5:
Categorize each learning objective according to Bloom’s Taxonomy of the Cognitive Domain.

Estimated time = 30 minutes

Step 6:
Look at your goals and objectives from the perspective of Wiggins and McTighe.

Do your goals and objectives include the six facets of understanding?

  • explain
  • interpret
  • apply
  • have perspective
  • empathize
  • have self-knowledge

    Estimated time = 30 minutes


Step 7:

Review and revise your work.

Would it improve the effectiveness of you lesson to include the Six Facets of Understanding?

Estimated time = 30 minutes


Step 8:
Post your report by Thursday, August 15, 9 pm.

Estimated time on task =10 minutes


Part 2

Step 1:
Read the goals and objectives of your curriculum partner.

Categorize them according to Blooms and Taxonomy and the Six Facets of Understanding.

Compare their goals and objectives to the Behavioral Objectives Rubric and Behavioral Objectives Checklist.

Post your critique by Sunday, Aug 18, 6 pm.

Estimated time = 90 min


Step 2:

Review the critique made by your Curriculum Partner of YOUR lesson by Sunday Aug 18, 9 pm.

Estimated time = 30 min


Step 3:
Review the Web pages for Topic 3 before the Second Meeting, Monday, August 19, at 12:30.

Estimated time = 60 min
