drake lewis' biography

Drake Lewis is a Multimedia Web Programmer for the Instructional Development group at the Foothill De Anza Community College District. He started working for the district in 1994. From 1995 to 2000 he held a classified staff position as a Computer Support Analyst. He was part of the team that created the district on-line Application & Registration system and the on-line schedule. He helped create and develop the original Foothill and Central Services web sites and supported the MAUI administrative information system.

In October 2000 he was hired into his current position with the Instructional Development group. Some of the projects he has been involved with include:

  • Creating multimedia objects, in Flash and QuickTimeVR and two databases for Foothill's ENGL8 Children's Literature course on-line.
  • Creating a database and virtual tour for De Anza's COUNS 100 course on-line.
  • Maintaining the ETS website and adding interactivity using a Flash menu.
  • Supporting the De Anza Manila-based faculty website project.

Before coming to the District, Drake worked for ten years as a medical photographer, first as a civilian employee of the Letterman Army Institute of Research in San Francisco, and later supervising the Palo Alto Medical Foundation's photography department. He developed a specialty in ophthalmic photography and continues doing freelance work in that field to this day. He also spent eight years as a stay-at-home dad for his two daughters.

Drake holds a master's degree in Communications from the University of Illinois at Springfield, with a specialty in 16mm film production.
